A Turnkey Networking Package Built for Garden Offices

Garden offices and garden rooms are the fastest-growing home improvement in the UK — and a poorly connected one is a missed opportunity. Whether you are building a home studio, a private office, or a creative space at the bottom of the garden, we provide a complete end-to-end networking package specifically designed for these structures.

We work with you at any stage of the build — during construction is ideal, but we can retrofit into finished garden rooms too. Every installation is scoped individually, so what you get is tailored to your property, your garden office layout, and how you plan to use the space.

Exterior Cabling: Cat6/6a & Fibre in Conduit

Getting reliable data from your house to your garden office starts with the right cable and the right protection. We install Cat6 or Cat6a ethernet cable — the same specification used in professional office environments — rated for outdoor and underground use. Where distances are longer or future bandwidth demands are a consideration, we also run fibre optic cable as a contingency, giving you a high-capacity pathway that can be activated when needed without any further excavation.

All cables are protected inside a 30–50mm diameter conduit run between the main property and the garden office. The conduit shields cables from moisture, UV exposure, ground movement, and accidental damage — and makes future replacement or upgrades straightforward. Entry and exit points are sealed and finished neatly to match your property.

  • Fibre optic contingency runs where required
  • 30–50mm conduit protection throughout
  • Underground or surface-mounted routing options
  • Professionally sealed entry and exit points

Racks, Switches & WiFi Access Points

Inside the garden office, we install a compact network rack or surface-mounted enclosure housing a managed PoE switch and patch panel. This keeps all your network hardware organised, accessible, and protected — with no loose cables or exposed equipment cluttering the space.

WiFi 6 or WiFi 7 access points — typically Ubiquiti UniFi — are ceiling or wall-mounted and wired back to the switch via Cat6/6a. This delivers full-speed wireless throughout the room with no bandwidth sharing or dead zones. For larger garden studios we install two APs for seamless roaming coverage. All hardware is configured, tested, and handed over with full documentation before we leave.

Smart Home Devices & CCTV

We complete the package with smart home technology and security cameras tailored to your garden office. Smart lighting, climate sensors, smart plug control, and wall-mounted control panels can all be integrated — letting you automate the environment and manage energy use from your phone or an existing smart home hub in the main property.

CCTV cameras — wired or PoE — protect the garden office and the surrounding garden area. Cameras feed back to your main property's NVR or a dedicated standalone recorder housed in the garden office itself, with remote viewing via mobile app. Everything is installed professionally, with cables concealed and equipment mounted to match the interior finish of your garden room.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of cable do you run to the garden office?
We install Cat6 or Cat6a ethernet cable as standard, rated for outdoor and underground installation. For longer runs or where future-proofing is a priority, we also run fibre optic cable as a contingency — giving you a high-capacity pathway ready to activate without any further work.
Do you always use conduit?
Yes — always. All cables are run inside a 30–50mm diameter conduit between the main property and the garden office. This protects cables from moisture, ground movement, UV, and accidental damage, and makes future cable replacement straightforward without any excavation.
What WiFi hardware do you install in the garden office?
We typically install Ubiquiti UniFi WiFi 6 or WiFi 7 access points, ceiling or wall-mounted, providing full-speed wireless coverage. For larger garden rooms we may install two APs for redundancy and seamless roaming. All APs are powered over Ethernet (PoE) — no additional power outlet required at the access point location.
Can you add CCTV and smart home devices?
Yes — this is part of our complete garden office package. We can add wired or PoE CCTV cameras, smart lighting, climate sensors, smart plugs, and wall-mounted control panels, all integrated with your existing home system or set up as a standalone configuration in the garden room.
How long does the installation take?
Most garden office networking installations take one full day. More complex jobs — those with fibre runs, multiple CCTV cameras, smart home integration, or a full rack build — may take up to two days. We confirm the exact timeline during your free consultation once we have assessed the site.
Do you work on garden offices that are still being built?
Yes, and this is the ideal time to get us involved. Installing cabling during the build stage is significantly easier and less disruptive than a retrofit. We can coordinate directly with your builder or contractor to ensure conduit routes and cable entry points are built in at the right stage.
