We install Cat6 or Cat6a ethernet cable — the same specification used in professional office environments — rated for outdoor and underground use. Where distances are longer or future bandwidth demands are a consideration, we also run fibre optic cable as a contingency, giving you a high-capacity pathway that can be activated when needed without any further excavation.
All cables are protected inside a 30–50mm diameter conduit run between the main property and the garden office. The conduit shields cables from moisture, UV exposure, ground movement, and accidental damage — and makes future replacement or upgrades straightforward. Entry and exit points are sealed and finished neatly to match your property.
Inside the garden office, we install a compact network rack or surface-mounted enclosure housing a managed PoE switch and patch panel. This keeps all your network hardware organised, accessible, and protected — with no loose cables or exposed equipment cluttering the space.
WiFi 6 or WiFi 7 access points — typically Ubiquiti UniFi — are ceiling or wall-mounted and wired back to the switch via Cat6/6a. This delivers full-speed wireless throughout the room with no bandwidth sharing or dead zones. For larger garden studios we install two APs for seamless roaming coverage. All hardware is configured, tested, and handed over with full documentation before we leave.
We complete the package with smart home technology and security cameras tailored to your garden office. Smart lighting, climate sensors, smart plug control, and wall-mounted control panels can all be integrated — letting you automate the environment and manage energy use from your phone or an existing smart home hub in the main property.
CCTV cameras — wired or PoE — protect the garden office and the surrounding garden area. Cameras feed back to your main property's NVR or a dedicated standalone recorder housed in the garden office itself, with remote viewing via mobile app. Everything is installed professionally, with cables concealed and equipment mounted to match the interior finish of your garden room.
